I just got back from my amazing (solo) trip to Vancity and I can’t believe how much fun I had. I was super nervous about going on my first trip ever by myself but it turned out great! The timing worked out perfectly; I wouldn’t have wanted to go for much longer, but I thoroughly enjoyed how much flexibility came with only having one (aka my own) opinion to follow. I wanted to share my Vancouver itinerary and what took up my time while I was out west. Vancouver is the perfect place to plan a short getaway if you’re on a budget. This time of the year in particular, it was a pretty inexpensive trip.
Vancouver Itinerary:
Day 1:
I arrived in Vancouver at around 2:00 pm and took the train to the city centre. I would definitely recommend taking the train and walking to your hotel if you booked downtown. It took me about 15 minutes to get to my hotel from the train. I stayed at The Comfort Inn Downtown and I really like it. It looks a little sketchy from the outside but the inside is very clean and because it’s located right on Granville street, I didn’t have to walk very far to get to my appointment or spend too much money on the shopping street.
A friend suggested I try Burgoo Bistro for dinner so I headed out on the hour walk to the restaurant. It wasn’t too bad of a trek and the Mac n’ Cheese that I had was so worth it. Get the one with the Breadcrumbs though, I cheaped out and regretted it when the lady beside me had the stepped up version.
Day 2:
I woke up and headed to the provided breakfast with the hotel. My appointment was at 11:30 so I started walking at around 10:50 to ensure I got there on time. On the way there I passed the sandwich shop Meat & Bread and made a mental note to head back for supper. The appointment took almost no time at all, and unfortunately for my wallet, that meant I had more time to shop. Because the oceanfront was right beside the visa application centre, I grabbed a coffee and headed over for a few photos and a nice little break.
Later, I headed up Granville street to hit up the amazing stores that aren’t available in Edmonton. There was a skirt I was eyeing from Topshop and although I found it right off the bat, they didn’t have the tall version to help with length on my 5’8″ frame. I guess I’ll have to keep patrolling online. Next, I went over to Aritzia. It seems a lot larger with an awesome selection. I swear half the stuff is not available in Edmonton. I picked up this gorgeous leather skirt and this purplish/dusty rose sweater. Nordstrom was right around the corner and it’s worth it to even go in even if you don’t want to shop. The store is so grand, the ceilings were higher than I’d ever seen in a shopping space!
I went back to Meat & Bread to get dinner and it was closed! I was so devastated because it looked to die for! Remembering a sandwich shop beside the JJ Bean where I had grabbed a coffee earlier, I headed over hoping it was still open. I got lucky and ordered the turkey sandwich. It was so good! I definitely recommend hitting up Tractor if you’re ever in Vancouver. Later, I grabbed a gelato from world renowned Bella Gelateria and it fit the hype. Get the toasted pecan if you get a chance!
Day 3:
My last day in the city consisted yet again of coffee shops. I sat down to figure out some blogging stuff while I sipped a coffee at Take Five Cafe. Later, I went back to Nordstrom to buy a leopard belt I had seen the day before and decided that I needed! Luckily I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel until I needed to head to the airport.
I picked up a smoothie and then the train took me back to the airport and I was off to Edmonton again. My first solo trip was a success!
I also shared my packing list for this trip so check out what I took to sustain me on this 3 day extravaganza! If you have never gone on a solo trip I highly recommend it. It really gives you some me time to do whatever you want. Plus, Vancouver is amazing, so that’s always an option for your solo getaway.
Have you ever gone on a solo trip? Thanks for stopping by to check out my Vancouver itinerary!

Too bad I missed you, I live in Vancouver! 🙂 I’m glad you had fun in this solo trip, and it looks like you went to the right places while here. I’d recommend visiting Gastown as well next time 🙂 xo

Yes! Gastown is so gorgeous! I didn’t have time to squeeze it in this trip, but I know I will need to next time; I can’t go another trip without Tacofino!

Amazing trip… Im still thinking of doing a solo trip. I still have to overcome my fear on sleeping in hotels though. Ive had a terrifying experience at a hotel before that left me running out at the hotel early dawn.
