As we head into fall, it’s getting more and more apparent how important versatility is when it comes to clothes. I’m not going to lie and say I don’t have a lot of clothes, because I definitely do, but I’m trying to be more vigilant when I buy things to try and make sure it transcends seasons. This way, I can have pieces that will take me from summer, into fall and all the way until winter. Obviously you can’t do this with everything because we all know these shorts are going away the minute October rolls around, but you get the idea!
For the past few years, I’ve made a conscious effort to try and up my jacket game! Jackets are one of the most versatile thing in your closet because they can go with just about everything, and you wear them year round. In the summer, a jacket always comes with me because it gets chilly at night, and the other 3 seasons obviously require a jacket, if not a heavy duty coat, or both! My favourite styles of jacket this year are a classic leather, an easy khaki, and obviously blazers galore.
Taking a page out of my favourite blogger’s book, the amount of blazers in my closet has expanded because they really are the epitome of versatile. This fall I am heading back to business school, and with that comes a lot of business casual days and presentations. Throw on a cute patterned, ruffled, or classic double breasted blazer with a pair of dark denim, and you’re ready for anything! On that note, blazers are also the easiest way to pull together a not so business look; they add an easy sense of formality to graphic tees or ripped jeans.

Although I can’t wear sandals for most of the year, I always take the option to wear them when I can. I love the look of fall outfits with a pretty brown sandal while the weather still allows. I’ve been wearing my classic black sandal all summer long with dresses, skirts, and even with workwear and I know they’ll look just as good this back to school!
The key to transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall is opting for a darker colour pallet. I always gravitate towards the blacks, greys, and blues in my closet at this time of year, and by just adding these colours to some of your summer pieces, your outfit already gives off some fall vibes.
