Spring is always SO exciting; it’s warming up and heading towards the end of the semester for us university students. As much as I love the idea of spring, dressing for spring is always a challenge. Keep reading to find out my top tips for picking your outfits during this awkward time!

There’s nothing worse than not feeling like spring. has. sprung. I know, I might be a tad dramatic, but I honestly love this time of year so much, it would suck to not get in the spirit. Anyone else feel like the first time you roll down your car windows in spring, and feel the fresh air on your face is the best day of the year?! It can’t just be me who thinks this!
Despite that though, spring is deceivingly tough to dress for and actually feel spring-y. So I’ve put together a few tips that help me get into the season with my outfits.
My Top 4 Tips for Dressing for Spring
1. Stick to layering pieces
It IS getting nicer, but there’s probably going to be a chill in the air during at least parts of the day for the next month or so. When this is the case, you have to be prepared for a HUGE range of temps during the day. As annoying as it is, it’s actually pretty easy to dress for.
As long as you opt for outfits that are filled with layers, you can strip some off during the warm hours and layer up during the colder ones.
If you ask me, layers are what make an outfit a lot of times! I love to add a few here and there to add a bit of interest.
2. Trade your black pieces out for navy
Navy has become one of my FAVOURITE colours to wear. It’s just as versatile as black, but it looks less harsh when the weather warms up.
One of my favourite pairs of trousers are navy and they’re the BEST. Not just for spring, but especially for spring.

3. Opt for lighter shades of your faves
I immediately gravitate towards lighter colours when spring hits. My white tops tend to get a lot of wear at this time of year.
There’s nothing more spring than some lights, brights and pastels. Easter colours, although not new for the season (HA!), are perfect as well. I know, I know, you’ve heard that a million times, but there’s a reason! A lavender dress just screams spring compared to an all black outfit.
That being said, because my closet is full of darker colours, I usually mix them in. I can’t be putting away all my dark colours for spring; I’d have no clothes left!
4. Patterns are KEY
For some reason, breezy patterns SCREAM spring to me! Maybe it’s just because now you can actually see the patterns I wear because I’m not wearing a giant coat everyday, but still!
I know that florals for spring are not groundbreaking, but they WORK; that’s why everyone recommends them! They put the perfect punch of spring into every outfit, so of you’ve got them, flaunt them.
I will admit that not every outfit I wear in the spring utilizes these tips, but when they do, I feel so spring! And coming off a winter like we’ve had, I’d say that’s a very good thing!
