Fall is officially upon us, and with that comes a new shopping list to keep you looking and feeling great through the new season! Scroll down for all my picks for fall and the pieces that I’m so excited to wear as the weather cools down.
I love fall fashion. It’s the perfect time for layers and warm pieces, while still being able to pull off some of your summer outfits (with a few tweaks!) I’m a sucker for a good jacket and some nice boots, so you can bet I’ve been going crazy styling all my fall looks before I go back to work.
I’ve come up with a list of my favourite pieces to either buy, thrift or pull out from the dark trenches of your closet for fall.
The best pieces to add to your fall wardrobe
1. A pair of comfy booties
If booties don’t scream fall, I don’t know what does! I wear my boots HARD, so a new pair almost yearly is unfortunately a necessity for me. If I could, I would usually keep the boots I wore 5 seasons ago, but in reality, the weather is so harsh here in Edmonton, my boots wear down really quickly.
This year, I snagged a pair of Steve Madden booties from Hudson’s Bay for half off! I actually had the older version of these boots a few years ago (you can see me styling them here for the first time!), but I wore them so much I had to get rid of them after only 2 seasons.
Last year’s pair of booties was this pair of Rebecca Minkoff boots which remain one of my FAVES. I was more careful with them and as such they’re still perfectly fine to be worn this year. I wanted to grab another pair of black boots because the combat style isn’t particularly work appropriate .

2. A long jean jacket
My favourite thing to wear in the fall is longer jackets. This is because they cover all the goods for when the wind chill picks up, and look so cute! Plus, since layering is a must in this kind of weather, they’re perfect to throw on top of a shirt and a sweater for warmth.
I snagged by jean jacket from the Wardrobe Exchange here in Edmonton which is a second hand clothing market. This particular one is vintage, but I found some super cute long jean jackets online if you’re looking to pick one up for yourself! If you want to opt for thrifting, consider looking in the men’s section for a really nice oversized option.
3. A cute hair accessory
With how many layers you’re wearing, sometimes pieces can get lost in the outfit. That’s why hair accessories are so lovely for fall; they are always visible!
I shared 5 hair accessories that I had been loving for summer and honestly, I’m just going to bring all of them right into fall with me.
4. A patterned button down shirt
Again with the layering, a button down is the perfect piece to throw on top of a thin turtleneck. They really allow of limitless outfit options (which is why I always travel with them!)
My favourites usually have a bold pattern so the rest of your outfit can be kept quite simple – or easily changeable! I love a good houndstooth (which is what I picked up!), stripe or floral print in darker colours for the season.
5. An easy tote bag
I’m the kind of person that likes to carry everything but the kitchen sink with me. I just love being able to have everything at my disposal if I need it. That way I never have to go without my Airpods or chapstick. You know the drill.
A good tote bag is the perfect fall accessory to be able to house all your important goodies, and those extra layers you have to strip off after lunch! All those layers need to come off and be put somewhere when the sun starts to shine!
My newest obsession of a tote bag is one I grabbed 50% off from Goodwill. Which means that I spent a whopping $6.25 on it. That’s a really good buy if you ask me. Plus, with the pattern on it, it gives my outfits a little more pizzazz if you know what I mean!
There’s my version of the best pieces to add to your fall wardrobe! A few staples might be needed to bring your wardrobe back to cold weather from the summer style. Mine needed a few things, that’s for sure!

Of course! I’m so happy with my purchase. Me too! It’s something I’ve been trying to do more and more, so I was very happy to find something I loved secondhand! xx
