I’ve been a thrifting QWEEN these past few months. But with thrifting comes the challenge of trying to style all your super unique pieces into outfits. That’s where I come into help! Keep reading for my go-to ways for styling secondhand outfits.

I love this outfit. It’s almost completely thrifted, save the boots, earrings and sunnies, and I feel like a million bucks in it. The jacket I snagged from Facebook Marketplace, the shirt from Poshmark and the jeans from Goodwill.
I can honestly say that it has taken me a while to get used to styling secondhand pieces. I think it’s because you never know what you’re going to get. Obviously when you go to the mall, you can choose whatever you want. For the most part, it’ll be there in your size. When you go thrifting though, you might find 10 amazing dresses and not that black sweater you were hoping for.
When that happens, it can be hard to style things because it might not be the right season or you need to style the piece with the black sweater that you were originally looking for. The one thing you can hope, is that you’re only buying pieces that you absolutely LOVE and can see yourself wearing again and again.
My first go-to for styling my secondhand pieces, is to work them into your existing wardrobe.
You probably have a great white sweater at home that you can wear overtop of your new dress. Mix and match. It doesn’t all have to be thrifted! By starting to thrift at all, you’re helping reduce the amount of clothes you’re buying new. Even if it’s one piece, it’s a start!
If you’re a newbie to secondhand fashion, try FB Marketplace and Poshmark first before you throw yourself into full on thrifting.
It can be intimidating and frustrating if you’ve never worn used clothes before or have never even been to a thrift store (there are some out there!) These sites are great becuase they let you search by things you already know you would like. When I starting buying secondhand more, I used a Buy & Sell page on Facebook exclusively for Aritzia and Lululemon pieces. I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I knew my sizes for those 2 stores and I usually liked their stuff.

I usually end up mixing styles when I wear secondhand because I find it’s too much to go with all one.
By that I mean I wouldn’t wear a super vintage looking button down with equally as vintage looking jeans, unless that’s the look you’re going for! I often opt to mix and match pieces that are contemporary with vintage finds to make my outfits interesting, and have people completely shocked when I say my entire look is thrifted.
I’ve complied a bunch of outfits with these pieces. First, with this secondhand coat as well as some with this bag. I love sharing how many ways you have to wear pieces that you’ve thrifted!
