Going for tea or coffee could possibly be considered one of my favourite past times. I love sipping a good latte at a cute new café I’ve just discovered, whether that be here in Edmonton or while I’m traveling. From my semester abroad in Copenhagen, my friends and I would always check out new spots to grab a coffee and I put together a list of all my favs on my Café Guide to Copenhagen!
High tea is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while but never really got around to it, so when some friends suggested we go for my birthday I happily took them up on it! There aren’t a ton of places in Edmonton to go for High Tea, but of the few, the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald was an obvious choice. The hotel is downtown and overlooks the river valley (where we went riverboating a few weeks ago!), plus they include a tour of the hotel in the high tea cost, so it was super neat to see where the queen slept when she was here in Edmonton!!
The Fairmont High tea was delicious! They first gave you your tea choices so I opted for the Earl Gray before any food came out. First course was an apple sorbet which was really good, but I was waiting for the scones. I love a good scone, and these could quite possibly be the best I’ve ever had! They came out warm and were paired with jam and clotted cream and made sure there was none left over. After you fill up on scones, they bring out the rest of the snacks including 4 different types of sandwiches and a plethora of desserts. I was so full after all my scones that I couldn’t finish the rest of the desserts, but of course I had to try at least one bite of everything, and I was wishing I hadn’t had breakfast earlier that day.
Although you can wear pretty much anything to high tea, I loved having the chance to dress up a bit for it. In the middle of summer, I love opting for lighter colours like the purple dress I wore from ASOS, this pretty pink number, or a classic white sheath. Anything floral is right up my alley and going for tea seemed like the perfect place for any and all floral patterns. High tea seems like the perfect place to experiment a little so I was also thinking of ordering this floral jumpsuit, this floral dress or this pretty ruffled dress.

I’m all about following trends if you love them and turning them into permanent pieces in your wardrobe; I refuse to believe that the neck scarf trend will ever go out of style! Chain belts have been coming back recently and I love the way they look! I wasn’t sure how much wear I would get out of one and all the ones I found were super pricey, so I opted for a much cheaper and more versatile option. I snagged a bag chain from Duval Canada and have been able to wear it both as a belt and to switch out the strap on my purses. So for, for under $20, I’ve already gotten my money’s worth!
