If there’s one grind I’ve been on lately, it’s the hair accessories trend. The possibilities are endless, and they look too dang cute to pass up! I mean, I for one love the ability to distract from what could be 3rd day no wash hair. (I’m trying to cut back people!) Keep reading for my 5 favourite hair accessory trends that I think are going to stick around a long while!
Accessories have been my thing lately. I’m telling you, the amount they can elevate an outfit is unmatched! Add a cute hair accessory and your hair just went from drab to fab. This is not a drill, these are AMAZING!
3 Hair Accessories to Try ASAP
1. Tortoise Hair Clips
I will admit that these stumped me for a bit. I could NOT figure out how to wear them in a way that looked good. It was frustrating because I knew they had potential, if you know what I mean.
I hated that when you put them in to pull your bangs back when your hair was down, all you could see was the weird clip thing and none of the pretty tortoise face! Crisis averted though, if you simply turn them around and have the clip at the back, problem solved! Plus, you can put these into so many braided hairstyles and they instantly make your look more exciting.
2. Pearl Bobby Pins
One of my personal favourites that I’ve recently found! I’d been on the hunt for a good set for what felt like ages, and snagged these ones at H&M in Québec.
These little pearl beauties are easy to throw into an updo or pull your hair back when it’s down. Pull your hair back with one, two or four depending on how bold you want to go!
3. Hair Scarves
If you’ve been around the blog for a hot minute, you’ve probably seen my most popular post of all time: 22 Ways to Wear a Hair Scarf.
Sooo, coming off of that, you already know how much I reach for a silk square when I’m in a hair rut. They are so easy to fit each and every person’s style and they look SO cute just about any way you wear them. Whether that be around a ponytail, weaved into a bun or wrapped as a headband, there really is no wrong way!
The best part of these, is that you can buy one and wear it even more ways than just in your hair. I’ve been known to wrap a silk square on my bags, around my neck and even on my wrist.
Careful though, not all silk squares are made equal; some are better than others when it comes to hair. You can shop some of my faves below that will definitely make your hair stand out.
4. Knotted Headbands
You either love them or you hate them and man, I love them.
I was the QUEEN of headbands as a kid, and as it turns out, not much has changed. Well, more like, I don’t want to lose my title.
Headbands are the perfect hair accessory to wear when you’re in between washes but still want to look cute. I love the knotted ones but you could also opt for something a little less dramatic (but, like, why?) like the ones below!
5. Scrunchies
I hopped on the scrunchie bandwagon a while ago and it has not slowed down! I love to wear them at night because they are really gentle on your hair and don’t leave ponytail bumps.
Scrunchies are also great for during the day. Add one to your ponytail or bun in a pattern that compliments your outfit and BAM, you’re good to go!
I grabbed my scrunchies from Chelsea King, and although they’re a bit pricey, they’re worth it! They have a really strong hold, even for a gal with pretty thin hair. Plus, they come in so many colours, you’re bound to find one you like.
What have been your favourite hair accessories this year? Let me know in the comments!
