We’ve made it to the last day of NYC! I’ve shared the first few parts of my trip on the blog, starting with a solo travel day, then to my favourite outfit day, and finally the day of some super New York tourist activities. Now, sadly for me (I’ve been reliving my trip through writing these posts), this is the last one I have for you. Keep reading for the perfect rainy day in the city!
We started off our morning at Ruby’s with brunch and a latte. It’s got the cutest vibes but a lot of other people think so too so go early! Since we had a late start, some of us went with breakfast foods, and others with lunch. We grazed through the crispy rice bowl with avocado (mine and SO delish!), the Bronte burger and the chicken burger. I’m not kidding when I say that the fries at this place were some of the best I’ve ever eaten. If that doesn’t say good things about this place, I don’t know what will!

It was a tad rainy on this Sunday, so we headed down to Lower Manhattan to check out the Westfield World Trade Centre mall. Before going to NYC, I actually thought the photos I had seen of this place were from Grand Central Station (now you can probably tell why I was disappointed with GCS), so I was pleasantly surprised to finally see it here! The mall itself is huge, so if you’re wanting to do some NYC shopping, this may be the perfect place!
We obviously had to check out the 911 memorial while we were in the area. Although I’d seen it before, it doesn’t really get any less powerful seeing it again. They still to this day, put flowers in the names of those with birthdays on that day. Especially hearing about the experiences of my friend. She actually went to school in New York in 2001, and therefore knew at least one person who passed; it felt a little more sentimental.
Because it had started to rain a little more, we decided to go the the 911 Memorial Museum for the rest of the afternoon. Beware when you’re buying your ticket, they only give student discounts to those going to American universities. So adult entry is $26 USD. Not pleased with that one considering the last time I went to a museum in the US it was free – HELLO Washington DC!
ANYWAYS! The museum took us hours to go through and it’s really amazing what they recovered from the collapse of the buildings. My favourite part (is that bad to say in this situation?) of the museum was the actual exhibit on the day of September 11, 2001. It has tons and tons of items from people who were there, saw it, experienced it, as well as videos. Definitely worth checking out if you’ve been caught in a rainy day!
The final dinner as a group was at Emmy Squared, which has some dang good pizza. We went with the Mont Blanc, Vodka, Angel Pie and Margarita pizzas and polished those off pretty quickly! We all had to fight to finish the first 3, but skip the Margarita if you do go.
Of course, I wasn’t about to go to the USA and not at least stop into Trader Joe’s! I’m not sure why I love it so much since I’ve hardly tried anything. Maybe it’s because what I have tried has been SO good. If you’re anywhere that they have a TJ, you need the Everything But the Bagel seasoning. Do yourself a favour and also buy the peanut butter cups. Both an absolute WIN if you ask me.
That officially wraps up my NYC experience! Thanks for following along friends. I’ll be sure to post a round up travel guide to NYC in the coming weeks here so you have a one stop shop to all things NYC!
xx Victoria
