Mascara is a necessity in most gals’ makeup bag, but there are SO many to choose from, where do you start? I tried a bunch of mascaras from Sephora so you DON’T HAVE TO. I’m giving all the details on the most popular products so you don’t have to waste time finding your fave! Best Sephora mascara, here you come!
I want to disclose one thing before we get into this post: My eyelashes may be my best feature. Not trying to brag or anything, but they’re pretty nice. I’d say my favourite part of my body. SO, the point of that, is that my eyelashes are already quite long and you may not have the same results as me when it comes to these mascaras. Just something to keep in mind as you read on.
I love making my eyelashes super bold. I coat them in a plethora of layers of mascara and I LOVE it when they look full and long. If you’re going for a different look, that’s all good. Watch out for the things you look for in a mascara in the reviews below!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
Pros: I loved the way this made my eyelashes look. It was more of a lengthening mascara than thickening, but it gave my lashes a really natural look while making them absolutely POP.
Cons: This mascara was really bad for smudging under my eyes. It would leave my under eyes with significant and noticeable smudges by mid afternoon.
Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara
Pros: This mascara was great for lengthening and volumizing. To me that’s the ultimate goal. It was the perfect amount of clumpy to be able to create lashes that are visible from a mile away.
Cons: This mascara dried out really quickly. For some reason, the mascara would glob up at the top of the brush, dry, and then would prevent me from closing the tube all the way (without me noticing for a while). Then, the lid cracked and sped up the overall drying.
Related: I included this mascara in last summer’s beauty faves post!
Tarte Light, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
Pros: This mascara gives the longest spidery lashes in only a few strokes. I didn’t put a ton on and my lashes were already super super long.
Cons: It definitely gives more length than volume. The lashes weren’t very thick or really “visible” from farther away, which is my preferred look!
Two Faced Better than Sex Mascara
Pros: This mascara goes on really nice, and looks amazing for the first bit of your day!
Cons: This mascara smudges a lot on underneath your eye. I noticed a ton of build up under my eye by the end of the day, I’d say worse than the Perversion Mascara above. I took a makeup wipe and to my under eyes at the end of the day, and with the amount of product on my wipe, it looked like I had taken off all the makeup from my bottom lashes.
Buxom Lash Volumizing Mascara
Pros: This mascara was great for lengthening lashes and never smudged under my eye, even though I wear mascara on my bottom lashes as well. It’s also lasted a while without drying out or not working as well.
Cons: I found the little bristles on this brush way too long; they always hit my eyelid and transferred product.
The Results
Overall, my favourite so far has been the Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara. It’s one of the ones with the least smudging under the eye and the boldest look. I love a mascara that gives you length and volume, and this is the one that gives me both!
I’m going to continue to try new mascaras whenever I finish up my old ones. So stay tuned as I add more to this list, and continue to scope on the best sephora mascara in the biz!
What’s a mascara you’ve been dying to try? I’d love to add it to my list!
