Micellar water is the perfect addition to your skincare routine because it takes off all the extra gunk that your makeup remover missed. Plus, if you’re getting your micellar water from the drugstore, it’s a cheap way to add a little to your skincare routine! Check out the best drugstore micellar waters I’ve tried and the one I’m going to keep buying below!
I first tried micellar water last summer after I saw it in one of my friend’s skincare routine and since then, I’ve been HOOKED. It’s been the perfect way to get my skin prepared for my night cream after taking my makeup off. I find that it gets all the gross extras left on my skin from the day. The water makes my skin feel fresh and ready for some lovin’!
I opted for drugstore micellar water at first because I didn’t want to spend a fortune at Sephora. What I’ve found is that the drugstore has some GREAT options, but some are definitely better than others. Or maybe not better, but different for sure.
Over the past year, I’ve been trying different drugstore micellar waters and I’ve found my favourite!
Keep in mind these drugstore micellar water reviews are based on my skin type which is not overly sensitive and DRY, very dry.
Simple Cleansing Micellar Water
Pros: The Simple micellar water feels so clean and makes my skin feel fresh to DEATH. It feels super gentle, but still manages to remove all the extra gunk left on my face after washing.
Cons: This one is a tad more expensive than the other ones I’ve tried (I’m talking approx $1.00 more), so not too big of a deal.
Pink Garnier Skin Active Micellar Water
Pros: The Garnier micellar water has been the best bang for my buck at the drugstore. It is the biggest bottle (so the most product) and actually tends to be cheaper than many other ones. I’ve found it really good at taking off the extra bits of makeup that I couldn’t get off with my Makeup Eraser.
Cons: This one is definitely more alcohol-y if you will. It smells a bit more sterile, and I can feel that it dries out my skin more than the other options.
I recently tried the Blue Garnier Micellar Water with Cornflower extract. I really didn’t like it. It had way too strong of a scent and I don’t live that there was oil on the top. If you’re going to go with Garnier, definitely stick to the pink capped bottle.
Nivea Micellair Water
Pros: This one also has a big bottle which translates to more product for less money, WINNING! It’s definitely less harsh than the Garnier one above, but not as great as Simple.
Cons: This one hasn’t been as noticeably good at taking the lingering makeup off my skin.
Overall, my favourite drugstore micellar water is the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water.
To me, it just seemed to work the best while really feeling like it was refreshing my skin rather than stripping the good stuff.
I’ll continue to test new ones as I run out of my old bottles, so I’ll make sure to re-share this post every time I add a new product. Keep coming’ back as I keep you updated on my faves!
xx Victoria
