I love to read, and I love to get book suggestions from my friends. It’s so much more fun to read a book someone else already enjoyed so you’re more likely to enjoy it too! So here’s a curated list of must read books from a friend!
This year my goal is to read 20 books! For me, this isn’t too lofty of a goal, but since I epically failed on last year’s goal, I thought I’d slow my pace. I read 22 of my 35 book goal last year which obviously wasn’t ideal. You can take a peak at all the books that made up that number here and here.
There were some books this year that I was SO excited to read. Ones that I had had on hold at the library for months because they were so popular, ones that friends recommended and ones that some blogs I follow suggested. I keep a running list of all the books I want to read and currently, it’s sitting at about 130. So I’ve got a lot of reading to do!

After months of reading, here’s a list of all the books I read, including the ones I didn’t like. I love to put those in too so that if those particular books are on your list, you can at least consider pushing them farther down the line than some that shouldn’t be missed!
My Best Books of 2020
1. P.S. I Love You – Jenny Han
If you loved the first book of the series, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, this one is a no brainer. I had to finish it before the movie came out because I didn’t do that for the first one and I should have… Other than the fact that I didn’t know it was a book before. This time, I’m better prepared!
Recommend: MAYBE
2. Always and Forever, Lara Jean – Jenny Han
And number three was also a must read because I read the first two. If you’re into the series, why not finish it off with the last book of the trilogy?
Recommend: MAYBE
3. Know My Name – Chanel Miller
This book is an autobiography about the woman that was sexually assaulted by Brock Turner. If you remember back a few years ago, it was all over the news after she read her victim impact statement and the it was published on Buzzfeed. I was interested in the story then because of the audacity of the reporting of the case, and I’m still interested now. Given how much I love biographies, this one was a no brainer for me. VERY powerful read, however, a VERY difficult read as well. Proceed with caution, but I recommend.
Recommend: MAYBE
4. Where the Crawdads Sing – Delia Owens
This one started off a little slow. I don’t think I really got into it fully until 100 pages in. I’m not one to stop reading a book if I’m just not into it, unless it’s more than 400 pages long. So that being said, this one I was going to finish. After page 100 though, I was pleasantly surprised. It got more and more interesting and then at the end throws you for the biggest loop.
Recommend: YES
5. Feminasty – Erin Gibson
This one was both hilarious and horrendous. Hear me out. Overall I actually really enjoyed this book. I was actually laughing out loud at parts and cringing with my whole body at other parts. There were important topics in the book, but some I felt she took a little too far.
Recommend: MAYBE
6. The Rumor – Elin Hilderbrand
Another light and easy read from Elin Hilderbrand. I will say that this one wasn’t my fave. It was just a little lacklustre for me. If you’re looking for an easy read, consider some of her other books that I read last year.
Recommend: NO
7. The Silent Patient – Alex Michaelides
The first half of this book was good, the last half of this book was great. In the beginning, I was reading it because I heard good things. It was good, but wasn’t a huge page turner until the last half. The twist is what makes me recommend this book. I was thrown for an absolute LOOP!
Recommend: YES
8. The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins
I really had a hard time with this one. I know, I’m way behind the eight ball on this book but honestly, I’m not sure I was missing much. Don’t get me wrong, the end was good. But was it worth trying to get through the first 200 pages? I’m not so sure. I’ve been finding that with a lot of the mystery books I’ve been reading lately; they’re so flat out boring for the first 2/3, and then finally get good at the end. Ugh.
Recommend: NO
9. The Banker’s Wife
This one was exactly the breath of fresh air I needed after the previous book. That’s because it was a mystery, but the action started at the beginning. This book was a super easy read and somewhat predictable, but I thought it was worth it anyways.
