Layering pieces is pretty much a necessity when winter hits and it gets SUPER cold. For me, staying warm is the first thing I think about when getting dressed in the morning. Who wants to sit at school or work, or even brunch with goosebumps?!
That being said, my first stop is usually the sweater section of my closet. I love a good sweater. There are SO many variations, you’re bound to find something both cute and practical for your needs.
I wear sweaters into the office all the time, plus casual looks are that much better with a cute partnered sweater to top it off! Some of my favourite styles of sweater this year have definitely been turtlenecks (with how cold it’s been in Edmonton, this one’s probably obvious!) like this one and chunky sweaters, perfect for layering like this one.
The layered sweater is the PERFECT addition to dresses this time of year to bring them into the cooler temps. I shared how to bring summer dresses into fall back in August, but now it’s time to bring out the big guns, and bring them into winter!
To avoid looking bulky, I usually opt to put my dresses underneath my sweaters. Whereas dressing them for fall, I would have layered it over a tee. I love this dress from ASOS because the high neck and long sleeves let it peak out from under the sweater and give the outfit a little more interest. I found some similar styles here and here that would be perfect for some added layers.
PS the bare legs definitely isn’t “winter ready” but I was so excited to wear my new shoes, I couldn’t resist! Go for some tights if you’re trying to avoid the cold.
