I keep all my coats tucked away for as long as possible when fall hits. I love being able to head outside in just a sweater with a few layers underneath because let’s be real, I wear coats most of the year, when I don’t absolutely have to be, I won’t be. SO, once I learned how to layer for the cool temps, I’m avoiding coats for that little bit longer. A straight WIN! You can easily look bulky when you layer (which is not too cute), but when done right, damn, it’s the BEST. Layering is super easy once you have the basics down pat, so I always start with tighter options. Start with cute leggings like my leather pair that you last saw here and here, and a basic tank (my favourite are the super cheap ones from XXI).
Next up, a long shirt is PRIME because you can add some interest with different hemlines and patterns. This particular top is an oldie but goodie (last seen here in 2016 [omg!]), and long enough that it peaks out the bottom of just about everything. I love long tops with slits up the sides because I find they really elongate my legs without the added bulk of some longer tops I’ve seen. When these tops have a pattern too, they are the perfect layer people. They add a but more than a plain top (which I am so guilty of wearing every. single. day). Stripes are always a cute but easy starting point like this top, but if you’re looking for something a tad more bold, try florals or gingham. All super easy for layers or just wearing out on the town!!
In an effort to add a bit more interest to my outfits, I’ve been attempting to add in a few more accessories. Acrylic earrings have been a super easy addition, but SO cute. This particular pair is from XXI and they have tons of options under $10 (I know, such a steal!) like these or these tortoise ones, these colourful ones and these white ones. I also shared a bunch of my all time fave tortoise acrylic earrings here, and statement earrings in general here. I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how much I’ve been throwing these on and feeling INSTANTLY pulled together.
To me, layering for fall might just be the best part of the season, especially when you can look cute AF while you’re doing it!

Do you recommend to (always) layer these kind of pants or will a sweater + ‘short’ t-shirt do just fine as well?
Victoria says
Hi Melissa! I tend to layer with longer pieces with leggings, but it’s whatever you’re comfortable with! The beauty of leggings, is that they’re now thick enough to be worn as more like pants. That being said, I tend to stick to longer sweaters or tops when I’m wearing them! xx

Thank you so much! 🙂 I do hope we’ll see more looks featuring leggings (they’re so damn comfy to wear during colder seasons). Cheers!

I can definitely make that happen! Do you prefer fancier leggings like these as opposed to sport leggings?
Melissa says
I strongly prefer the fancier version (leather/wet-look design). Also, I’m totally on the same page when it comes to avoiding coats for as long as possible. xx 😀

Awesome, I will make sure to post more with these leggings! Thanks so much for reading! xx
