Anddd we are back at one of my favourite views in all of Edmonton, the Muttart! A long time ago I shared a cute skirt on this same roof, and now I’m back with a cute dress and how I’m styling summer dresses for fall! My friend Cate and I grabbed some brunch at the café downstairs and then headed up for all these pictures. With back to school in full force (I went back yesterday!), it’s the time to step up your wardrobe and get all ready for fall and the new school year. At the same time though, I hate the idea of putting away all my summer pieces when the weather turns down a notch because some pieces I bought recently like this dress, and want to keep wearing as long as possible!
This dress was a find from ASOS and I love how simple it is with a few pretty touches; the shoulder bows and ruffles at the neckline make me want to wear it year round! Who knows, maybe the snow won’t stop me and I’ll be styling it all the way into winter.. but that might be wishful thinking! I snagged this dress (seen here) and this dress (seen here) from ASOS around the same time and all three will for sure be making it into my back to school outfits.
The key to wearing your summer dresses into fall is 1. layers and 2. fall inspired accessories. Layers will keep you warm in all your tank dresses, whether that be by pairing a fun turtleneck underneath like this one, or this one, or draping a loose cardigan overtop like the one I shared in this post, or this longline one.
This is the last year of my accounting degree and I’m SO pumped to be this close to finishing. Maybe I’ll miss it when I’m gone for good (although I doubt it based on how this past year has gone), but for now I’m just going to grind until the end with hopefully a few fun events in between the studying.
Fishnet and leopard are two of my favourite fall trends that I’d say aren’t trends anymore. There will always be a permanent place in my closet for a good pair of fishnet socks and tights (like I showed here), and little pops of leopard like a belt or this bag. I think understated is always a good way to go if you don’t feel fully committed to these pieces. For me, I’ve worn them for so long and cemented my love of them, that I might just amp up my pattern a little and go for a full leopard dress like this one or this one!
Are you determined to bring all your summer buys into fall like me!? Let me know how you do that in the comments below!
