It’s been a hot minute since I shared anything beauty related. To be honest, it’s because I really didn’t have much to share. I’ve never considered myself very good at doing makeup. For a long time I refused to buy expensive makeup for that very reason (I shared my drugstore beauty routine here). But, times have changed my friends, because I have got some amazing products to share! I am definitely not an expert, but since I know very little, I think this post might help those who also aren’t beauty school graduates.
Foundation
I love a high coverage foundation, but hated the way liquid foundation felt on my skin. It was always looking cake-y and would completely wipe away if I put my hand on my chin when I sat at my desk. This pressed powder foundation from MAC was a game. changer. If you love a foundation that covers really well but find the liquid doesn’t really work for you, I’m telling you, you need to try this one out! As we all know, I’m pale AF so I wear it in the NW10 shade.
Concealer
I pair this foundation with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Light 1 Chantilly. I like this one because it’s more buildable than other ones I’ve found. AKA, when I put this on a blemish, it fades right into my foundation rather than sitting on top.
Blush
I first tried this blush when it was in the 2017 Sephora birthday package and I L.O.V.E. it! I had to get the full sized version so I could take the mini one on all my future trips. The Paaarty shade is my fave because it doesn’t go on too dark, but you can layer it to make it show up a lot more. On a pale gal, a blush that doesn’t completely wash me out from the pink tones is exactly what I’m looking for!
Highlighter
When it comes to highlighters, I’ve used a bunch. I definitely prefer pressed powder highlighters versus creams, sticks or liquids because I find it goes on more even. When I put a cream one on, it leaves a line that I somehow always miss blending! That being said though, I did really like the Colour Pop highlighter that I had last year. Recently, I’ve opted for the Becca Cosmetics Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfecter. I’ve worn it both in Vanilla Quartz and Moonstone and don’t really have a preference between the two. Both do the job really well!
Eyeshadow
Now for the eyes! I usually don’t do a whole lot in the eye makeup department because number 1, I don’t have enough time in the morning, and number 2, as a gal with dry eyes, I find the more eye makeup I put on, the more irritated my eyes get throughout the day. When I do put eye shadow on, I usually opt for my Naked 2 pallet. I have this one as well as the full sized version, but really didn’t need the bigger size because all the colours I wear are in the mini!
Mascara
Mascara is something I never splurged on until I got this tiny sample sized version of Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. It was a full on game changer. I loved it but noticed it left dark spots under my eyes because it would come off really easily throughout the day. So I decided to change things up, and you guys, my lashes have never been nicer. The Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara is my favourite thing in my beauty bag. It has a nice big brush for easy application and layers really well when I want a more dramatic look.
Lipstick
Another find from the Sephora birthday gift was the Tartiest Lip Paint in Birthday Suit. I loved the formula and the colour seemed to match every single person I knew. It was a limited edition so it wasn’t available for purchase for forever, until they had so many inquires, they decided to bring it back temporarily! People, you need to pick one (or five) up before it’s gone because it’s the perfect every day lip colour!
Spray
I also use Urban Decay Prep Spray when I want a little pick me up in the middle of the day (and before I put my moisturizer on in the morning if I remember LOL), and the Make Up For Ever Setting Spray when I need my makeup to last a lifetime.
Bronzer
Bronzer is also a part of my summer beauty routine but I haven’t found one I like enough to share. I have been using drug store bronzer forever but it’s not my perfect shade, and I don’t like that it doesn’t have any shimmer. If you have one that you love, let me know in the comments so I can try it out!
There is all about my favourite summer beauty! I love to try new products to see if I find any new winners, so I’ll make sure to keep posting updated routines as I find them myself!

Does the Bobbi Brown mascara smudge? I find it really hard to find a non waterproof mascara that doesn’t smudge and it often the worst in summer when its humid or I wear a lot of sunscreen!! X

I found it doesn’t smudge! I had that issue with the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, and even though I loved the way my lashes looked, I would go home at the end of the day with my under eyes covered in mascara. When I switched over I noticed a HUGE difference and haven’t experience any smudging whatsoever with the Bobbi Brown one. I even wore it in the shower one time (without getting my face wet) and there was no smudging at all!
