I’m back coming at you with day 2 of my spring trip to Washington D.C.! I shared all the details of the first day including the memorials within the National Mall, the gorgeous cherry blossoms and all our favourite food stops. Today we are on to day 2 which was a lot more sight seeing and yummy food places.
It was Friday, so we knew full well that we had to get in as many of the classic tourist spots that we had left to see, because as with everywhere, the weekend would come with a ton more people in these famous spots! We first stopped for brunch at Bluestone Lane which was the cutest little brunch spot within a library. We ordered some coffees and egg dishes as well as the oatmeal, and would recommend it all! We all ate so much, we decided to skip lunch and instead spend the day exploring even more!
There is a relatively new Smithsonian museum all about African-American History, and after a ton of recommendations, we decided to try and get it. It’s notorious for being super difficult to get tickets to as they sell out months in advance, but if you get in line for 1:00 pm, they give out day of tickets to the front of the line. Make sure to get in line early though because once they run out, you’re out of luck! Thankfully, we arrived at around 12:30, which allowed us to get tickets for entrance at 1:00!
The museum was packed; it was obvious that tons of other people had heard about how awesome it was too! You could have spent the entire day there, but we had more places to see so we ended up picking up the pace, and still were in there for about 4 hours.
After the museum, we walked over to finish the remainder of the National Mall that we had missed the day before. The Congress building was exactly like it I had imagined it (which is more than I can say about the White House!).
After walking around the area a bit, we stopped in at the Botanic Gardens which were so fun to explore! Their set up was gorgeous, and they had the most beautiful hydrangeas. Dinner was an early one at RPM, which is an Italian restaurant within walking distance from the National Mall. Make sure to make a reservation because it had the most delicious pasta!
I spent the day in a polka dot dress from ASOS, my favourite Rebecca Minkoff Midnighter bag (as per usual!), Adidas Stan Smith Sneakers, and the cutest socks from H&M. I had never worn this dress before, and it turned out to be the perfect piece to keep me feeling cute while still being comfy. Polka dots have been my number one buy in the past few months. They’re back people, I’m telling ya!
