This past year has been an absolute whirlwind. With university, work, finding a co-op placement, school clubs, and trying to plan my exchange, I am ready for this new year. I can already tell next year is going to be an amazing one. All the things I was planning in 2016 are happening in 2017! In the middle of January I jet off to Copenhagen, Denmark for a semester abroad, and when I get back, I’m going to be starting my accounting placement at KPMG! There are so many exciting things happening that I really can’t wait for the rest of this year.
This past year seemed a lot about work and not much fun, I want to ensure at this time next year, I don’t have the same feelings about 2017. I always tell myself I’m going to do fun things, but actually making them happen is another story! So, I decided to make a small resolutions/bucket list for 2017 about some of the things I want to do next year!
2017 Resolutions/ Bucket List
- Travel to my top 5 places while on exchange in Copenhagen
- Try 5 new restaurants in YEG (I’ve heard some great things about Tres Carnales, Little Brick, and the Common!)
- Volunteer on a continual basis
- Donate blood
- Declutter my life (work harder to only buy things I really want/need and clean out my spaces to have only things that actively matter to me)
- Make and stick to a budget (I don’t really buy a ton other than clothes and coffee, but I would like to be more knowledgable about just how much I am spending and get everything on track to save for the future)
- Be more active (I want to get back into hot yoga and do more bike riding {which won’t be an issue in Copenhagen!})
- Read all my outstanding unread books (and more!)
- Be more active in the blogging world (I want to continue to learn more about blogging, make connections with other bloggers, collaborate with brands I am passionate about)
- Travel somewhere for New Years 2018 (I’m thinking Jasper or Mexico!)
I have a tendency to not do things because I don’t feel like it in the moment, but whenever I do, I come home so thankful that I pushed myself to go out. I want to continue to try and learn as much as I can, whether that be picking up a new book once a month or researching more about blogging, it’s always amazing to be able to go to sleep knowing you are smarter than when you woke up. 2017 will be the year of seizing stuff.. Thank goodness it was right after the year of realizing stuff (thanks Kylie for your insight)!
I am so excited with what 2017 has in store and I know that if I work hard to have a good year and seize opportunities, it will be a great year!
What are your must do’s this year?
xx Victoria

I love your new year resolutions! Especially your top 5 places in Europe (they are all amazing! I been to all and your list is great!). I also agree with the ‘reading unfinished books’ haha. I’m such a bad reader, I always start and never finish. I have 3 books I force myself to finish this year (doesn’t sound much. But boy I can’t get into it, even though the books are great! Such a shame). Thanks for sharing!
Much love. Ilka x

Thank you Ilka! I would love any of your recommendations for those places; I’m going in slightly blind! I have been bad for that recently as well. I buy books, but with my busy schedule, never end up finishing them. Such a shame!

Making and sticking to a budget definitely just made it on to my list! I just got married, and my husband and I want to buy a house in the next few years. If it’s going to be anywhere that we actually want to live (the Seattle area is sooo expensive) we are going to have to save every penny!

It’s super difficult to start, but I feel that if I’m realistic, than I can stick to it and slowly lower my spending on unnecessary expenses! Buying a home is so exciting! I can’t wait to see how you do!
