Off the Shoulder

 

Happy my favourite day of the week!

I have been seeing off the shoulder EVERYWHERE this summer. It’s such a trend this year and obviously I had to hop on board. It took me a while, mostly because I can’t wear it to work or throw on a sweater with it because I’m always cold.. but I knew I had to take the plunge and buy something with the trend because I actually do like it a lot!

I first saw this dress online and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it at Forever 21 a few weeks later. I find it almost impossible to go to XXI and actually find something you’re looking for. It usually turns into a 3 hour extravaganza where I walk out with everything except the thing I went there to buy.

I tried it on only because it was off the shoulder and was very excited when it turned out to be really cute! I have a huge issue finding dresses that are long enough for me. Because I usually have to buy to fit my waist, they turn out to be uncomfortably short. When this one was past my fingertips, I hardly gave it a second thought before I swiped the plastic.

I have to admit though.. off the shoulder is slightly impractical. Every time you raise your arms slightly the band comes up and pops to the top of your shoulders. This definitely won’t keep me from wearing my dress (or buying more for that matter), but it’s just something to consider if you’re planning on wearing one for a busy day.. Just don’t. They are great for a day of walking or picture taking, but you can’t get too fancy or else you’re constantly going to be pulling it back down.

I paired the striped dress with my go-to black sandals and stacked gold jewelry. I also swiped on a super bright lip to add some color to the outfit; it was slightly dark for my summer tastes! This pastel turquoise bag has been on repeat lately (last seen here), I love that it can fit my wallet and sunglasses comfortably, which is saying something with how massive my wallet is! But the best part is that it’s from Old Navy! I love finding nice pieces in unexpected places. I almost went back for the other 2 colors, but restrained myself when I remembered how many bags I have.. Oops!

I wore this to a simple hang out with a friend, but it would be ideal for a warm summer date night or a brunch with friends.
